Site Manager

Summary:

The role of the Site Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize the installation portion of projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to complete installation projects according to plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage project installation efforts from beginning to end.
  • Create and maintain a site safety program and ensure all team members and sub-contractors adhere to the policy.
  • Produce daily site reports on the appropriate forms to the project's key stake holders.
  • Systematically deal with issues at the jobsite and counsel with the Project Manager or other team members as required for resolution.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project installation goals.
  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants to meet installation timelines. This includes a consistent forward looking review of upcoming events.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path with respect to installation.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Actively engage the customer site representative and customer vendors in a cohesive effort to create an effective working environment.
  • Actively lead the site effort to get vendors to perform site checks, fill out protocols, etc. This is key and will serve as a trigger for payment and for site demobilization.
  • Actively participate in contingency planning with the Project Manager when the need arises.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Participate in project post-mortems.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project installations.
  • On occasion will be assigned in a different role. This role may include project engineer, project manager, project installer, commissioning support, or roles within the viastore manufacturing plant.
  • Future goal to grow his/her knowledge in Controls, SW, etc to facilitate his/her ability to single handedly perform commissioning and troubleshooting efforts.

Travel Requirements:

Ability to travel up to 100% per year.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university and/or 8 or more years of related industry experience.

Other Skills/Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of material handling systems including AS/RS, conveyor, controls, and software and their application to warehousing, distribution, and manufacturing.
  • An in depth understanding of warehousing and material handling equipment is essential.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and people.
  • Ability to manage a large work force consisting of company and vendor personnel.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in personnel management.
  • Must have ability to use MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and MS Project are desirable.
